An FAQ for coding online training
We’ve put together the most common questions our coding career consultants get asked.
Do I need coding experience for the training?
If you are new to the coding world, you’ll be pleased to know that there is no previous experience necessary. Our online training is designed to guide you through the most in demand coding languages; from beginner level to experienced professional.
Our coding bootcamp covers both front-end and back-end development to give you a wide range of desirable skills. Your skills will be assessed through course projects meaning you finish the training with an expert portfolio.
At Learning People, we make sure that your training is aligned with your career goals to give you the best chance at reaching success. Many of our students have undergone massive career changes (from retail workers to headteachers!) and have all found a place in the coding industry.
How do I fit studying around my lifestyle?
All of our courses are fully online. This means that the training is there for you whenever it suits you.
Our StudentCareTM team will help you to formulate a study plan to keep you on track. Here they will examine how to easily integrate your learning time into your current schedule.
You have a 12 month license period to complete your training so you can spread the studying out however you wish during this time. We have ensured that 12 months is more than enough time to complete the training, even alongside a full-time job and other commitments; like children.
Our Full Stack Developer course includes around 500 hours of studying time (that’s equal to around 20 days worth of hours). If you did 20 hours a week, you would have a diploma in coding in just over 6 months.
Remember, you are learning a new skill that is going to open up a wide range of exciting opportunities for your career. It is well worth the time and effort.
What support do I receive alongside the training?
Once you’ve enrolled, you will be welcomed by our StudentCareTM team. They will take you around the learning platform and give you a detailed orientation. StudentCareTM will support you through your training journey by offering study advice, helping you prepare for and booking exams. If you have any technical issues, StudentCareTM is on-hand to guide you through them.
Once you’re ready, our Career Services team will reach out to get you started on navigating the job market. Our Career Services consultants are experts at connecting professionals with the right employers and helping students stand out above other candidates. This team will support you into your first role and will celebrate your success with you.
Most of our courses also include expert mentors. These are industry professionals who are skilled coders. They are there to guide you through the course content, answering any questions you have around the modules or assessments.
How much will I earn after the training?
With the current demand for coding professionals, there are opportunities all around the world. Salaries are generous and there is plenty of room for career progression.
According to Adzuna, the average salary of a Software Developer is around £50,000, that is 50% higher than the average national salary. This has been rising considerably in recent months, as organisations call out for coding professionals.
Something else to consider is the fact that many of our students land their first coding role before completing their training. Companies often hire junior developers who are encouraged to continue learning as they work. This is a brilliant advantage of our coding bootcamp, as you learn only the most relevant skills so you’re employable faster.
As a coding professional, can I work remotely?
One of the biggest appeals to working in software development is the flexibility it offers. Coding is something you can do away from an office, so many developers are able to work from home, or remotely, meaning there are lots of opportunities for flexible working. The COVID-19 pandemic has made remote working roles even more readily available for coders.
Not only do you have the option to work from home, you also have the option to go down the freelance developer career path. Freelance coding jobs come with a generous pay packet that only increases with experience.
