Get into coding with the 5 step coding challenge
Thinking about learning to code but don’t know where to start? Take the 5 step coding challenge and discover if it’s right for you and your future career.
We’ve helped people start and change their careers in code for more than 10 years, and this journey always starts with the 5 step coding challenge. It’s the best way for people who are aware of coding, but haven’t yet tried to code, to learn whether coding is the career for them.
The 5 step challenge acts as an opportunity to learn the basics of code, assess your ability, discover if coding is right for you and most importantly, see if you actually enjoy it.
Despite its name, you can complete the challenge in just 5 hours. So, the commitment is as little as one hour a day to learn the following:
- Foundational HTML
- Adding style with CSS
- HTML 5 and the Semantic Web
- Responsive Design
- Javascript Basics
What is HTML?
HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. This is a standard text formatting language used for creating and displaying pages on the web.
What is CSS?
CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets and is used for describing the presentation of a document, which means the layout and structure of web pages.
What is the Semantic Web?
This is the structure of data (in web pages) so it can be read directly by computers.
What is Responsive Design?
If a web page looks out of shape on your mobile, it’s not been designed responsively. Responsive design means whatever you create fits properly on screen.
What is JavaScript?
The true definition of JavaScript is it is an object-oriented computer programming language, which means the language can contain both data and code.
You might have learned something by reading this in two minutes. Imagine what you could learn in 5 hours.
