Welcome to the Learning People Student Success update for the week commencing 28 November 2022 – our regular weekly round-up previewing a selection of up-to-the-minute successes, including exams sat, certifications gained, interviews attended, and new positions attained.
Project management
Cedric has just signed the contract with Connected Kerb as a Project Coordinator, which feeds in to his passion for sustainability, Arinola has just been offered the position of Assistant Project Manager also with Connected Kerb.
Marloes has been promoted from UK & EU Regional Operations Manager to EMEA Operations Manager after 14 months and Bhavini has just moved to a new company, Babcock International as a Project Controls Officer.
Code
With a background in Education as a Math’s Teacher and Head of Department, Sophie has now completed her Full stack software development course and has landed the role of a Full Stack Developer with Classroom Secrets who provide software for remote education.
Naomi is naturally quite shy and was initially incredibly nervous and anxious about Networking. Robyn worked with her to build her confidence and take it in baby steps. She is now THRIVING.
In the last week she has gained 100+ new LinkedIn connections (Career Services advise students to aim for 20 new connections per week). She has attended 2 meet-ups which included conducting informal interviews with a Recruiter from the BBC and a Lady Dev from M&S. Bravely asking questions in front a crowd to which she got a big cheer and applause – all the panelists told her to connect with them on LinkedIn and one of them pulled her aside afterwards for a chat. This is absolutely HUGE for Naomi and her overall confidence – she said in her most recent consultation ‘’I’ve finally found my place in the world’’.
IT
Ryan Johnson has just been offered the position of Support Desk Analyst with the NHS, where he is working in a large team, processing 40+K calls for all hospitals in his region, and he intends to find internal opportunities within their Cyber Security team. This is Ryan’s first IT role after being store manager for Superdrug for 4+ years.
Stephen has started a new role with Vitality as Security Applications Support Engineer. Bryan had two Cloud job offers and has now started working as a Junior Cloud Engineer for dataflexnet. His new role focuses on migrating legacy systems to AWS, working closely with the internal IT team. This has all happened before passing his first AWS Practitioner cert. This is a brilliant achievement for Bryan who has no previous IT experience.
