2023 Student Success Update | Monday April 10

Welcome to the Learning People Student Success update for the week commencing 10 April 2023 – our regular weekly round-up previewing a selection of up-to-the-minute successes, including exams sat, certifications gained, interviews attended, and new positions attained.  

 

IT

Andrew is now a Security Engineer for a IT services provider Kocho and with a background in bespoke furniture, and wanting to move away from physical work, Gary quit his job and began his certification journey. He first engaged with Career Services on Valentines Day 2023.

Gary followed the Career Services process with diligence, immersing himself in networking and as a result found a company called Stripe OLT and reached out to the directors and employees and secured an interview. When he confirmed the news with us, our head of Career Services noted that a previous student Joe also works there – so he reached out and Joe ‘put in a good word’. Gary was offered the role of Junior Security Consultant after just one interview.

 

 

 

 

Project management

Karen has landed her first full-time Project Management position as Business Interface Manager with Heathrow Airport.  Karen has been doing tremendously well with her studies, and is also performing voluntary Project Management work for her local town council.

Karen was approached by a recruiter for her new role and was a little nervous due to having to give a presentation as part of her interview. However, having completed a full preparation session with Career Services, she created an outstanding presentation with engaging storytelling, explaining why her experience aligned with the Airports Strategic vision – and then finished her presentation with a final slide showing her name with the title Business Integration Manager beside it. The group were so impressed they called her the following day with her job offer.

Eleanor has been promoted to Senior Project Engineer with Vorboss and Raymond has secured a Project Manager role in Estates, Facilities & Capital Projects for the NHS and Adriana has secured the role of Project Coordinator with Dunamis, a company based locally to her who focus on Green Energy solutions for small businesses.
