Tell us why you enquired with Learning People
So I was in lockdown and I was feeling a bit lost and bored and was thinking about what I wanted to do for a new career and started looking at doing courses. I saw Learning People show up on my social media, so I took a look at what you offered, and then enquired for a consultation call.
Were there any specific skills you were looking to gain or develop by enrolling with Learning People?
I was looking for the practical IT skills, but also I was definitely looking to gain the Career Services skills too, so, doing my CV, networking with people in the industry, improving my interview skills, those were definitely the ones I was looking for as well.
Was there a particular reason you chose to enrol with Learning People, and did you speak to any other educators or training providers?
I didn’t actually speak with any other training providers, but when I was looking around it was the Career Services that stood out. I also watched quite a few of the testimonials from Learning People students that piqued my interest.
Tell us what the career consultation phone call was like for you
It was very informative, they asked me lots of questions about what I was interested in and were then able to suggest what they thought would be the best fit for me. They went into a lot of detail about what was included in the course and how Career Services works and all the available payment options. They also gave me an insight to what a career in the industry would actually be like.
Tell us about your experience of learning online using our system and the associated labs
I found all the online learning quite easy because you can pretty much study anywhere at any time – and you also have the app which means you study on your laptop, or your phone. I had quite a lot of fun playing around in the labs which really helped me develop my practical skills. They basically allowed me to put what I’d learnt in the videos and the textbooks into real-world practice.
Were you able to gain support from our StudentCare™ team when you needed it?
Yes, they were always very fast at getting back to me if I needed anything.
Did you utilise any of the course mentoring – if so, how did it help you?
No, I didn’t actually need to.
How did you get on with the practice exams / test preparation?
I thought it was very useful because it helped me to understand what to expect when I sat the exam, but it also identifies what you might need to work on a bit more before you go ahead and take the exam.
Did you attend any of our Live Online Classrooms for your courses?
No – I didn’t really feel like I needed to.
Tell us about your experience of working with our Career Services team, and what did you find most useful?
I really enjoyed it. I worked with Robyn who was my dedicated Career Services consultant. She was very friendly and she had a lot of knowledge about getting a job in the industry and she was with me every step of the way, guiding me and helping me out. It’s quite difficult to pinpoint what was most useful because obviously all of it was. But I think ultimately, I got the interview for the job through networking on LinkedIn, so learning how to use that was really useful.
How did enrolling with Learning People affect your career?
It definitely gave me the confidence to pursue my first job in the industry and I felt very prepared through each phase of the Career Services program.
Tell us about your new job
It’s very varied. You do a lot of talking to users, and a lot of them aren’t very technical. So you have to be knowledgeable enough to be able to troubleshoot and explain in layman’s terms.
What has been the best part of your Learning People experience?
I think it would have to be working with Robyn because I learned so much and I felt like I was able to challenge myself in ways I hadn’t before. Especially with networking with other people in the industry, that was definitely something I’d never done before.
What advice would you give to somebody who is thinking about enrolling with Learning People?
Take advantage of all the services that are on offer. I imagine a lot of people thinking about enrolling are also working as well – you will feel tired studying and working but you just have to keep going because it will be worth it in the end.
